Hi, I am so glad you have decided to visit.
I would like to tell you a bit about myself before we get started with our tour.
As I have stated, I am Miss Becky, Miss Ducky for a few that can't say Becky. I have been a licensed child care provider for 18 years. I am a single mom of a wonderful 18 year old son. It was when I became a mother that I decided to leave my job as a Youth in Conflict Social Worker, and open a child care facility. It was my goal to provide the type of environment I would want for my own son and I have done that. I keep a Facebook page dedicated to my child care so parents can see the fun the kiddos are having.
I am very competitively priced for my area, being lower than most. I am a member of the Pikes Peak Region of Family Child Care Association and the Wildwood food program. I provide all meals and snacks, and I serve the children well balanced meals and healthy snacks.
I have over 35 years experience working with children. I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley Colorado in 1982. I have a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and my title is "Counselor of Abused Children". I wrote my own degree as I found that I was not suited to one program. My majors were Psychology and Sociology with minors in Child Development and Minorities. I also took several Criminology classes at a graduate level. I am proud to say my son will be attending college this fall and will be studying CSI work. As stated above, I was a Youth in Conflict Social worker in Weld County and in El Paso County for over 7 years prior to opening my child care home. I have also worked with special needs children and adults in camp, rehabilitative and school settings. I have been a Counselor for abused, neglected, runaway and delinquent adolescents and children. While in college I did my internships at Child Abuse Intervention and A Woman's Place, a shelter for battered women and their children, as the Children's Program Coordinator. I love working with the children and look forward to their arrival daily. I have also been a volunteer Coach for Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation as a Soccer and T-Ball Coach, for 4 and 2 seasons respectively. Now talk about a learn as you go experience!
To show my appreciation to the Police, Fire and Military families in the Colorado Springs and surrounding areas I donate a free night of child care every third Friday of every month. The attached article was printed in the Woodman Edition on July 23, 2010 and I was also featured on Channel 11 News last summer. I call this date night "The Great Date Escape." Now for a bit about my child care facility. I operate as a family home. The safety and well being of your children is of utmost importance to me. We read stories, work on puzzles, color, count, learn our numbers and letters. This is done in an informal manner due to the various ages and abilities of the children. When I have older children we do work on age appropriate workbooks and preschool activities. We have a very large back yard and love to spend time out there. We BBQ, and eat outside as often as possible, swim in a snap set pool on the deck, dance, sing, act goofy and just have fun. I am very proud of my program and I know the kiddos love it too. Having fun with the kids is one of my favorite things about having a daycare.
Now for the tour. I am new at this web site thing but I am old hat at taking great care of your children, so I may not have the fanciest site but I am working on it. The pictures I have posted are approved by the parents. I felt it was more appropriate for a public forum such as a web page, to mask their identity by photographing as little of their faces as I could. I hope you understand my need to protect the children in this manner.
